In this lesson, students learn how to freely brainstorm information they learned in science. During the brainstorm process, the students are shown how to categorize the information into main ideas and supporting details, as well as elaborating techniques to add more to the information. After the brainstorm, students then learn a chant that identifies the parts of information which directly corresponds to the organizer they learn to construct to plan their writing. Oral language rehearsal turns the ideas on their organizers into sentences. Once their organizers are complete, students learn to add punctuation and finally start to write their paragraphs.
